The remains of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, will arrive in Katsina State by midday on Tuesday, July 15, ahead of his burial scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in his hometown of Daura.
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, made the announcement during a press briefing on Monday.
He confirmed that the arrangements were finalized following consultations with the Buhari family and close associates in London, where the late president passed away.
Governor Radda stated that the burial will be conducted according to Islamic rites, and that both state and federal authorities are collaborating to ensure a dignified farewell.
“In consultation with the family and in line with the former president’s wishes, his body will be laid to rest in Daura tomorrow.
We also condole His Excellency, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the passing of his predecessor. May Allah give us the strength to bear this great loss,” Radda said.
He emphasized that the state government is working closely with the federal government and the late president’s family to coordinate all necessary protocols and ensure a solemn and respectful ceremony.
The funeral is expected to draw dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond, as the nation mourns one of its most influential post-independence leaders.
