A former Catholic nun, Rev. Sr. Anastasia Kinse, has alleged that she was sexually harassed by a priest but said she will not make her evidence public for now.

Speaking during an interview on Prime Time, a programme aired on Arise Television on Monday, Kinse disclosed that she possesses both video and audio recordings that prove her claims.

The ex-nun, who once served under the Auchi Catholic Diocese in Edo State and later worked at Veritas University, Abuja, said her dismissal came after she exposed what she described as widespread sexual misconduct within the Church.

“I find it funny when people ask me for evidence. It’s not that they don’t exist; they do. I have both video and audio proof showing where a head of department at Veritas harassed me,” she said.

Recounting her ordeal, Kinse explained that her troubles began shortly after she joined the Congregation of Mother of Perpetual Help of the Archangels Sisters in 2015.

According to her, she repeatedly reported cases of inappropriate behavior by priests to her Superior-General and Bishop but was constantly dismissed as being troublesome.

“I once reported a priest who tried to touch me when I went into his room. My superior told me to ignore him. Another priest once asked me to accompany him to his parish for a week, and I refused. There was even one who put a belt around my waist, saying he wanted to know my size to get me clothes. That incident broke me,” she recounted.

Kinse said the trauma from these experiences led to emotional distress, which Church authorities later described as “madness” to discredit her.

She maintained that despite the weight of her evidence, she would not release the materials publicly, emphasizing that “naming names” would not change much in a world that rarely believes victims of such abuse.
