Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has returned to the Federal High Court for the continuation of his trial over alleged financial improprieties.
The former governor arrived at the court premises amid a controlled security presence, with officials maintaining strict monitoring as proceedings resumed.
His appearance follows a temporary release granted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which allowed him to attend the funeral of his late mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai. She passed away in Cairo, Egypt, and was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
Sources indicate that the release was approved on compassionate grounds due to the family’s loss. However, the ICPC has not publicly disclosed the specific terms or conditions attached to the temporary bail.
As proceedings continue, uncertainty remains over whether El-Rufai will retain his bail status or be remanded in ICPC custody pending further rulings by the court.
