The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against organized crime with the arrest of five suspects wanted for kidnapping.
Confirming the development on Monday, police authorities said the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated operation, which also led to the recovery of a large cache of weapons. Items recovered include two rifles and more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition believed to have been intended for criminal activities.
The Command noted that the arrests would significantly weaken kidnapping networks operating within the FCT and surrounding areas. It further assured residents of its commitment to sustaining ongoing crackdowns against armed groups threatening peace and security.
The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation, while investigations continue to unravel their wider network and sources of supply.
