The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, October 1, 2025, will be observed as a public holiday in celebration of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day.

This was made known by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued on Monday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

While congratulating Nigerians both at home and abroad, the minister called on citizens to sustain the values of unity, patriotism, and resilience that have kept the country together since independence in 1960.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo further urged Nigerians to embrace the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, stressing that the programme is designed to drive national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity.

He expressed optimism that Nigeria will continue to advance in peace and development with the collective support of its people.

The minister wished all Nigerians a joyful and memorable Independence Day celebration.
