In a bid to strengthen democratic participation at the grassroots, some of Giv. Alia’s appointees from Mbayegh/Mbaikyer council ward in Konshisha Local Government Area have announced a voter sensitization and registration program scheduled for Saturday, 13th September 2025.
The exercise which is scheduled to commence at 3:00 p.m., is targeted at residents of the ward who are yet to register, revalidate, or transfer their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The appointees who are sponsoring this initiative include Engr. Mlumun Ikpaahindi, Technical Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure; Comrade Angula Bishop Reuben, Private Secretary to the Governor and PSA on ICT and New Media; and Hon. Dr. Terhermen Kpenkaan, Executive Secretary of BENIPA.
The trio, all indigenes of Mbayegh/Mbaikyer ward, said the exercise is part of their commitment to ensuring that their people are not left behind in the political process.
According to them, the sensitization program which will take place at the council ward headquarters in Tongo will help educate residents on the importance of voter registration and provide guidance on how to overcome common challenges in the process.
They stressed that the Permanent Voter Card remains the most powerful tool citizens have to decide their leaders and contribute to governance.
The appointees also appealed to the youth, women, elders, and persons living with disabilities in the ward to take the exercise seriously, noting that inclusive participation is key to building a stronger democracy. They further urged community members to encourage their families and neighbors to attend the program and make their votes count.
As the date draws closer, the people of Mbayegh/Mbaikyer are being reminded that this is more than just a civic duty; it is an opportunity to shape the future of their community, their state, and the nation at large.
