Residents of Tiv communities in Kadarko Ward, Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, have cried out over the massive destruction of farmlands allegedly carried out by suspected herdsmen.
According to a community member who preferred not to be named, the herders reportedly directed their cattle into more than 100 farms, leading to widespread devastation of crops and severe hardship for local farmers.
The source revealed that despite informing the Paramount Ruler of Kadarko about the crisis, no concrete steps have been taken to address the situation.
He appealed to the Nasarawa State Government and security agencies to act swiftly in order to protect the livelihoods of the affected farmers and prevent further destruction.
Villages said to be worst affected by the invasion include Alima, Gidan Mori, Tamen, Nguchi, Akpem, and nearby settlements.
