The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has unveiled a new plan to expand access to Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) registration in Plateau State, approving the establishment of 207 additional registration centres across the state.
According to the commission, the move is part of a broader strategy to boost voter registration, inclusion, and participation, especially among residents in rural and hard-to-reach communities who face challenges accessing existing registration points.
INEC officials explained that the new centres will be distributed across the state’s local government areas to decongest current facilities and bring voter registration closer to the people. The initiative is also aimed at encouraging first-time voters, youths, and those who missed previous registration exercises to enlist in the electoral process.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting credible, inclusive, and transparent elections, stressing that widening access to PVC registration is crucial to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic system.
Residents of Plateau State have been urged to take advantage of the new registration centres once they become operational, as INEC continues preparations to ensure seamless voter registration ahead of future elections.
