The King’s College Old Boys Association (KCOBA), 1998 Set, joins the nation and our global alumni family in mourning the passing of a distinguished Old Boy, elder statesman, and patriot, Chief Audu Innocent Ogbeh, CON.

Speaking to Dailly Asset correspondent, the Chairman of KCOB 1998 set , Mr Michael Nwite said
“Chief Audu Ogbeh was a great ambassador for the Good Old School, he was a symbol of what it means to live with purpose.

I remember his presence at several King’s College Alumni events where his practical wisdom was matched only by his generosity of spirit. Audu Ogbeh was a steadying hand and an inspiration. His life reminds us that true leadership is not in titles but in service to humanity.”

“From his days at King’s College Lagos, Chief Ogbeh embodied the values of service, integrity, and excellence. He carried these values into every sphere of his remarkable life, as an educator, playwright, farmer, and public servant.

His leadership journey spanned decades: Minister of Communications (1982–1983), National Chairman of the PDP (2001–2005), Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (2015–2019), and Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum. In each role, he was guided by conviction, humility, and a deep love for Nigeria” Mr Nwite stated.

“Chief Ogbeh’s kindness was the kind that asked for nothing in return. He gave his time, his counsel, and his resources with a quiet dignity that spoke volumes.

His legacy is not only in the offices he held, but in the countless lives he touched and the hope he inspired. We are proud to have called him our own.”

In Chief Ogbeh, we saw the best of King’s College, the best of Nigeria. As we grieve, we also give thanks for a life so well lived, and for the enduring light of his example.

The late Chief Audu Innocent Ogbeh OFR. was born in Otukpo, Benue State, on July 28, 1947, Chief Ogbeh dedicated his life to public service and the advancement of Nigeria.

He was of the King’s College, Lagos 1967-68, 6th form set. His formative years in the prestigious King’s College laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to excellence and service.

Throughout his illustrious career, Chief Ogbeh served Nigeria in many capacities:
– Minister of Communications (1982–1983)
– Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from 2001 to January 2005
– Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (2015–2019)

Chief Ogbeh was deeply committed to the ideals of food security, rural development, and national unity. His tireless efforts transformed Nigeria’s agricultural sector and promoted integrity in public life.

He will be remembered as a trailblazer whose legacy continues to inspire generations.

Late Chief Ogbeh Was A Man Of Courage And Vision….Chief Ali.

A former chairman of Otukpo local government Area of Benue state, Chief George Ali has said , late Chief Audu Ogbeh was a courageous and Vision leader who believed in his principles till his death.

Chief Ali stated this in an interview with Dailly Asset correspondent in his office in Abuja.
The former council boss pointed out that the late former minister of Agriculture will be remembered for his contributions to the growth of Benue state and Nigeria at large , having served as member state house of assembly in Benue, Minister of Communications, National Chairman of people’s Democratic Party and Minister of Agriculture and all in these capacities , he did well, especially in terms of good administration and left good legacies .

” At the time when politicians were scared to speak out, the late Ogbeh stood tall by voicing out against the presidency when he was national chairman of PDP ” Chief Ali added.

While commiserating with his family,the good people of Benue state and Nigerians at large, Chief Ali prayed to God to comfort his family,friends and associates , and prayed to God to accept his soul.
