The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, confirmed the development in a public notice issued on its official X handle, dated September 10, 2025.

According to the company, the latest disruption occurred at exactly 11:23 a.m., resulting in a total loss of power supply across its franchise areas.

The notice read in part: “Please be informed that the power outage currently being experienced is due to a loss of supply from the national grid at 11:23 a.m. today, affecting electricity supply across our franchise areas.”

AEDC, however, assured customers that efforts were underway by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and other stakeholders in the power sector to restore electricity as soon as possible.

The collapse adds to the recurring power challenges in Africa’s most populous nation, where frequent grid failures have continued to heighten concerns over the stability of Nigeria’s electricity infrastructure.
