Vice President Kashim Shettima paid a condolence visit to Aisha Buhari, the widow of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, in London.
The Vice President was received by Mrs. Buhari and members of the late president’s family during the visit, which comes ahead of the planned return of Buhari’s remains to Nigeria for burial in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
The visit underscores the federal government’s solidarity with the Buhari family during this period of mourning. Vice President Shettima had earlier arrived in London on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to represent the Nigerian government and coordinate arrangements with the family.
Photos from the visit were shared by Imran Muhammad on X (formerly Twitter), showing the Vice President offering words of comfort to Mrs. Buhari and other grieving relatives.
President Muhammadu Buhari passed away in London and will be buried according to Islamic rites in Daura on Tuesday, July 15.
