Operatives of the Orokam Police Division have arrested three suspected armed robbers in Orokam, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, recovering dozens of stolen items in the process.
The suspects, identified as Mujahid Mohammed (21), Yahaya Abdullahi (21), and Kalipha Mohammed (28), all residents of Mararaba, Nyanya, Abuja, were intercepted on 31st August 2025 at about 5:05 p.m. while on stop-and-search duty at Orokam Junction along Obollo Afor Road.
According to the police, the suspects were in possession of a bag containing 34 assorted mobile phones, three HP laptops, and two MP3 players.
During interrogation, they confessed to belonging to a robbery gang responsible for terrorising Orokam community in Benue and several neighbourhoods in Enugu State. The suspects admitted to robbing six flats in Umukasi area and ten flats in St. Theresa area of Nsukka, Enugu State.
Police further revealed that the gang’s leader, Abba Mohammed (27), escaped during the arrest, fleeing with the group’s weapons. Efforts are underway in collaboration with the Enugu and Gombe State Police Commands to apprehend him.
The Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP Emenari Ifeanyi, praised the swift action of the patrol team and reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to flush out criminal elements from the state.
He also appealed to members of the public to continue providing the police with timely information to enhance security across communities.
