President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday welcomed a high-level delegation from the World Bank Group at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, in a strategic meeting aimed at deepening economic collaboration and advancing Nigeria’s development agenda.
Leading the delegation was Anshula Kant, the Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of the World Bank Group.
She was accompanied by World Bank Advisor Mayank Goyal and Nigeria Country Manager Taimur Samad. The visit reflects growing global interest in Nigeria’s economic reform trajectory under the Tinubu administration.
Top Nigerian government officials were also present, including Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; and the President’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Discussions focused on enhancing World Bank-Nigeria collaboration in critical sectors such as digital innovation, infrastructure development, fiscal reforms, and poverty reduction.
The two parties also explored ways to ensure effective implementation of ongoing World Bank-funded projects across Nigeria.
President Tinubu expressed appreciation for the World Bank’s continued support and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to driving inclusive growth, job creation, and sustainable development through transparent governance and global partnerships.
The visit comes at a time when Nigeria is seeking increased foreign investment and financial assistance to cushion the impact of subsidy removals and economic adjustments.
Both sides agreed to maintain close dialogue and accelerate joint initiatives for national development.
