Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in London, United Kingdom, following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Acting on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Shettima traveled alongside the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, to coordinate arrangements for the repatriation of the late president’s remains to Nigeria.
On arrival in London, the Vice President was received by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, as well as the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.
The late President Buhari passed away in London after a brief illness. He will be flown back to Nigeria for burial in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
Further details regarding funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the presidency in due course.
