An unidentified group of men believed to be politically sponsored thugs reportedly attacked the residence of Hon. Akaa Peter Terna on Sunday night, threatening his wife over his alleged political stance and social media activities.
The incident occurred around on the 12th of October, 2025 8:15 p.m. at Tse-Abagi, Mbajie-Mbaikyon, Tsambe Council Ward in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to Hon. Akaa, the attackers arrived in large numbers and demanded to know his whereabouts. When his wife could not provide an answer, they allegedly threatened to harm her, warning that she would “face the same treatment” meant for her husband.
He said it took the timely intervention of his kinsmen before the assailants dispersed.
Describing the attack as politically motivated, Hon. Akaa explained that his views and opinions, which often differ from those of some local politicians, have made him a target.
“In my view, this attack is political. Many of Tsambe’s sons are unhappy with my political opinions, especially because they see them as favoring the former governor, whom they regard as their enemy,” he said.
He added that his open support for Comrade Benjamin Dugeri, who is not from his immediate council ward, has also caused tension. “About a month ago, two allies of the incumbent warned me that the current leader was not happy with my Facebook posts, which he described as being against his government,” he recounted.
Hon. Akaa has urged security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure the protection of his family, stressing that no one should be attacked for expressing their political opinion.
