Day 65 of the NIG2USA Bicycle Adventure brought an unexpected twist for Nigerian cyclist, Emmiwuks, after he suffered a frightening health scare while in Monrovia, Liberia.
In a heartfelt update shared with supporters, Emmiwuks revealed that he experienced severe breathing difficulties during the night, describing the ordeal as “scary and painful.” At the height of the crisis, he admitted fearing his body might not endure the demanding transcontinental mission.
Help came swiftly from Mr. Joseph T. Iber, who rushed him to a hospital, remained by his side, and ensured he received immediate medical attention. “He truly is a life saver,” the cyclist said, expressing gratitude for the intervention that restored his strength.
Now recovered and fit to continue, Emmiwuks reaffirmed his determination to complete the daring expedition. The NIG2USA project, which began in Nigeria, is a bold solo cycling journey designed to promote unity, love, and resilience across borders.
Reflecting on his close call, the cyclist wrote: “Sometimes, this journey tests me in ways I never expected, but moments like this remind me I’m not alone. Together we ride, together we rise.”
With renewed optimism, he has resumed his journey, pedaling toward his ultimate goal of reaching the United States.
