The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has officially granted operational licences to 28 newly registered private security companies. This strategic move aims to strengthen the nation’s security architecture amid increasing threats across various regions.
Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, who presented the licences at the NSCDC headquarters in Abuja, charged the newly accredited firms to prioritize intelligence gathering and community-based surveillance.
He emphasized that private security outfits must play a proactive role in supporting government security agencies with credible intelligence.
According to the Corps, the initiative aligns with national security objectives and reflects the NSCDC’s commitment to regulating and professionalizing private security practice in Nigeria.
The new licensees are expected to adhere strictly to operational guidelines and collaborate closely with relevant authorities.
Dr. Audi also warned that non-compliance with licensing regulations or involvement in unethical practices would attract stiff penalties, including revocation of licences and prosecution.
