The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Korinya Unit, on Monday inaugurated its new Executive Committee (Exco) at a colourful ceremony held at Korinya Club House, with Comrade James Iorsamber officially sworn in as Chairman.

The event, described as historic and memorable, attracted a large gathering of dignitaries, including the Konshisha Branch Exco led by Comr. Jighjigh Luga, elders of the union such as Orvesen Joe Gesa, Orvesen Orvesen, Adzer Kyase, and Jagusa Bebe. Also in attendance were traditional leaders including Zaki Msoo Tyohuna and Zaki Ayakpa Tyohemba, as well as representatives of the Konshisha Local Government Chairman, Hon. Kwanta Sesugh Samuel.

Other attendees included a police officer deployed to ensure security and documentation, Iwarev Youth Leader Mr. Atser Terlumun, Ex-officio member Hule Gbenda, and several dignitaries among them Hon. Pever Henry, Hon. James Korinya, Mrs. Tse, and Orvesen Orfo.

During the ceremony, Branch Chairman Comr. Jighjigh Luga made an executive pronouncement, naming Mrs. Joe Gesa as Matron of the Korinya Unit and Mrs. Mnena Yarkwan as Wingwoman.

In his vote of thanks, the newly inaugurated Chairman, Comr. James Iorsamber, dedicated his leadership to God and pledged continuous support to the government of Benue State under the leadership of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. He expressed deep appreciation to stakeholders who contributed to his emergence, with special mention of Rt. Hon. Kunde Aondowase, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, and Hon. Chikyaa Moses, Chairman of Konshisha LGA.

The ceremony ended on a note of optimism, with union members and community leaders expressing confidence in the capacity of the new leadership to advance the interest of transport workers in the area.
