Billionaire entrepreneur and socialite, Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has disclosed plans to retire from active business within the next decade, stating that he intends to step back from the corporate hustle when he turns 60.
Speaking in an interview with content creator ‘onejoblessboy’, which was shared on Instagram and reported by PUNCH Online on Saturday, the 50-year-old businessman said his goal is to dedicate his post-retirement years to traveling the world and spending quality time with his wife.
“I’ll retire in the next 10 years, when I’m 60. I’ll travel the world, and I’ll give my wife the best that life has to offer. The idea is for my kids to become independent and live their own lives. No more work,” Cubana stated.
The nightlife mogul, who has built a reputation for luxury living and philanthropy, explained that his current business engagements are all part of a grand plan to secure a sustainable financial future. He noted that every meeting, travel, and project he undertakes today is geared toward building systems that will generate wealth without his constant presence.
Cubana stressed the importance of smart work, legacy building, and financial independence, adding that his long-term vision is to enjoy a peaceful, stress-free life surrounded by family and fulfillment.
“One day, this body will get weak. So it’s important to position things that will work for you in the next 10 years. If you see me in a jet, at a meeting, or an event—it’s all part of the plan,” he added.
His remarks highlight a broader mindset shift among Nigeria’s new generation of entrepreneurs, who are increasingly focused on balancing success with lifestyle, legacy, and long-term well-being.
