The immediate past Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Chief Joseph Kaaba, a respected accountant, seasoned administrator, and accomplished entrepreneur, describing the loss as painful and irreplaceable.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, by his media aide, Terver Akase, Chief Ortom eulogized the late Kaaba as a patriot whose legacy of professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation would be remembered for generations.
According to Ortom, the late Kaaba was a proud and active member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) whose distinguished career spanned both the public and private sectors.
He served diligently in various capacities, ultimately rising to the position of Director of Finance and Accounts at the National Assembly.
“Chief Joseph Kaaba was one of the technocrats who brought their wealth of experience to bear on many of the decisions we made in our efforts to positively impact the lives of Benue people. He was a team player par excellence. His demise is a personal loss to me,” Ortom said.
The former governor also highlighted Kaaba’s entrepreneurial strides, particularly in the hospitality industry, and his active participation in politics and development initiatives.
He noted that Kaaba’s leadership and business acumen greatly benefited his community and contributed to the economic growth of Benue State and beyond.
Ortom offered his heartfelt condolences to the Kaaba family, friends, and associates, praying for comfort and strength during this difficult time.
“May the Almighty grant his soul eternal rest and console his loved ones,” Ort
om concluded.
