The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected its application to recognise Senator David Mark as the party’s interim national chairman.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Bolaji Abdullahi, the interim National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, described the claims as entirely false and misleading. He urged the public to disregard the rumour, stating that INEC has not declined recognition of the new leadership.

“The attention of ADC has been drawn to a story circulating that the @inecnigeria has refused to recognise the new leadership of our party under the Distinguished Senator David Mark,” Abdullahi wrote on his X handle.

“This story is entirely false and should be ignored. We urge the Nigerian people to disregard such misleading reports and remain focused on mobilising for the task of rebuilding our country.”

It would be recalled that the party, under the leadership of Raph Nwosu, recently announced a transition of power to Senator David Mark and other newly appointed leaders as part of efforts to reposition the party after its adoption as the coalition platform for a national movement.

David Mark, a former Senate President, was appointed interim national chairman as part of a broader restructuring initiative aimed at strengthening the party’s national outlook and appeal ahead of future elections.
