Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and immediate past governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed reports alleging that he is planning to defect from the ruling party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Ganduje, who stepped down as APC chairman two months ago, described the speculation as “fake news” deliberately crafted to mislead the public and stir unnecessary political controversy.
In a statement issued through his media aide, the former Kano governor insisted that he remains a committed and loyal member of the APC, firmly aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
“The story making the rounds about Dr. Ganduje defecting to ADC is completely false and should be disregarded. He remains loyal to the APC and to President Tinubu,” the statement read.
The clarification comes at a time of heightened political activity, with several high-profile politicians switching party affiliations ahead of the 2027 general elections. Ganduje, however, stressed that his political future is inseparably tied to the APC, noting that no amount of rumour-mongering will alter his commitment.
He further urged party members and supporters to ignore the speculations and focus on strengthening the APC as the platform to deliver good governance under President Tinubu.
