The Kwankwasiyya Movement has announced that former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will officially defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday, March 30.
The disclosure was made in a notice issued late Saturday night, confirming that the defection ceremony will hold at Gidan Kwankwasiyya along Miller Road in Bompai, Kano State, starting at 12 p.m.
Kwankwaso’s planned move signals a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape as permutations ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.
The former governor was the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 election, where he secured 1,496,687 votes to finish fourth behind President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).
His impending defection comes shortly after a meeting with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in Abuja on Saturday, further fueling speculations about emerging political alliances ahead of 2027.
