The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired back at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent visit to Plateau State.
Atiku had accused President Tinubu of “making merry” while the nation faces mounting security challenges. But in a swift response, the ruling party described the remark as “reckless politicking” driven by envy and misinformation.
Speaking on Sunday in Lagos, the party’s spokesperson, Mr. Seye Oladejo, stressed that President Tinubu remains fully committed to the security and welfare of Nigerians.
He explained that the President’s trip to Jos on Saturday was to attend the burial of Nana Lydia Yilwada, mother of the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwada — a gesture of compassion and solidarity with a grieving family.
“President Tinubu’s visit was a mark of respect and humanity, not a social outing. Only a man blinded by political envy would attempt to twist such a solemn occasion for cheap propaganda,” Oladejo stated.
He further noted that the Tinubu administration has shown proactive leadership by reinforcing security institutions, promoting intelligence-based strategies, and enhancing cooperation among the nation’s security agencies.
Oladejo urged critics to put national interest above politics, maintaining that the President’s focus on safeguarding lives and improving citizens’ welfare remains unwavering.
