Political realignments are gaining momentum in Ondo State as major figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) have thrown their weight behind a new coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bode Ayorinde, confirmed that former governorship candidates Eyitayo Jegede (PDP) and Agboola Ajayi (LP) are among the influential figures supporting the emerging political alliance in the state.
Speaking at a press briefing in Akure on Monday, Ayorinde stated that the coalition is committed to providing a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming Ondo governorship election.
“We are building a strong front to rescue Ondo State from years of stagnation,” Ayorinde said. “This coalition brings together tested and trusted leaders across party lines who are passionate about good governance and the future of our state.”
While neither Jegede nor Ajayi has publicly commented on their involvement, sources close to the coalition say both men have been actively engaged in behind-the-scenes negotiations to shape a common platform.
Political observers view the development as a major shake-up ahead of the 2025 governorship election, with the ADC-led alliance positioning itself as a formidable third force in the state’s political landscape.
The ADC is expected to announce its governorship candidate in the coming weeks as consultations continue among coalition stakeholders.
