The President of Mdzough U Tiv, Abuja, Prince Terver Kokoyuwen, led other prominent leaders including Maiklangu, Jiba, and several others to pay homage to the newly crowned Tor Tiv Abuja, Chief Joseph Aneh (JP), during his coronation and certification ceremony held by the Abuja Tiv Traditional Council.
Prince Kokoyuwen described the occasion as the dawn of a new era for the Tiv people, not only in Abuja but across Benue State and the nation at large.
“We are all happy to witness this historic day,” he said. “It is a fulfillment of our long-standing wish and a moment of great pride for the Tiv nation.”
He commended the traditional council for filling the leadership vacuum within the Tiv community in Abuja and urged all Tiv sons and daughters to remain loyal and supportive of Chief Aneh’s leadership.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Dr. Christopher Maklangu, congratulated Chief Aneh on his emergence as Tor Tiv Abuja.
“The new chief is like a father to me,” Dr. Maklamgu said. “I have known him for a long time and I am confident he will provide the right direction and leadership for the Tiv people both in Abuja and back home.”
Dr. Maklamgu also appealed to the Tiv community and residents of AMAC to support his re-election bid, promising to do even more for the people if re-elected.
Former House of Representatives member representing AMAC / Bwari , Hon. Micah Jiba, noted that the coronation was significant not only for the Tiv people but also for the Gbagyi and the wider Abuja community.
“The Gbagyi people have had a long-standing relationship with the Tiv people, and today we celebrate together as one family,” he said.
Hon. Jiba expressed confidence that Chief Aneh’s leadership would foster greater unity, growth, and development within the Federal Capital Territory.
Other dignitaries who spoke at the event included Chief Mrs. Mary Ikya, Dr. Mato, and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Young Progressives Party (YPP) AMAC chairmanship candidates. They all lauded Chief Aneh’s leadership qualities and track record, expressing confidence that he would excel as Tor Tiv Abuja.
The new Tor Tiv Abuja, Chief Joseph Aneh (JP) is a seasoned administrator and a retired director with the Federal Civil Service under the Federal Capital Development Authority having worked for thirty five years.
