The Ministry of Justice and Public Order, Benue State, on Monday officially welcomed its new Attorney General and Commissioner, Professor Timothy Yangien Ornguga, who pledged to strengthen justice delivery in the state while prioritizing the welfare of staff.
Prof. Ornguga, who arrived at the ministry headquarters in Makurdi with his wife, Dr. Bamidele Ornguga, close family members, and colleagues, took over from the Permanent Secretary, Barr. Thomas Ese, during a brief handover ceremony.
In his maiden address, the new Attorney General assured staff of a leadership style anchored on transparency, accountability, and teamwork. He promised to roll out training programmes, provide modern facilities, and create a conducive work environment that would enhance efficiency and productivity.
“We will work together to move this ministry forward. I expect staff to take their duties seriously, avoid gossip, and remain committed to ensuring justice for the good people of Benue State. My doors will always remain open for your ideas and concerns,” he said.
Prof. Ornguga, who previously served in the ministry, described his return as a “homecoming” and expressed gratitude to Governor Hyacinth Alia for the confidence reposed in him.
Delivering goodwill messages, Barr. Ese, the Director of Citizens’ Rights, Barr. Ejembi Enikola, and Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Makurdi Branch, Barr. Terna Yaji, commended the appointment and assured the Commissioner of their full support in achieving his goals.
