The Qatari Ministry of Interior has rolled out new and stricter visa regulations for Nigerians seeking entry into the Gulf nation, citing recent cases of visa overstays as the primary reason for the policy shift.
Under the new rules, DAILY POST gathered that all tourist and transit visa applicants from Nigeria must now provide evidence of a confirmed return flight ticket alongside hotel reservations before their applications will be considered.
Eligibility has also been drastically limited. Only female travellers and family units are permitted to apply for visas, while male applicants travelling alone are no longer eligible, unless accompanied by their families.
In a further tightening of conditions, Qatari authorities now require applicants to book exclusively with 5-star hotels to qualify for a visa, effectively shutting out budget and mid-range options previously available.
The ministry stressed that the new measures take immediate effect and will apply not only to fresh visa requests but also to all pending applications currently under review.
