The Honourable Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Amb. Prof. Steve Davies Ugbah, is leading a high-level initiative to strengthen collaboration with the Benue State Government in a bid to unlock greater funding through critical revenue allocation reforms.
As part of this strategic engagement, Prof. Ugbah is currently in Benue on a three-day official visit, accompanied by a delegation of Federal Commissioners and top Directors from RMAFC headquarters in Abuja. The visit marks a significant move towards repositioning the state to access a substantial grant under the Natural Resources Development Fund (NRDF).
The delegation is being led by H.E. Amb. Desmond Akawor, Chairman of RMAFC’s Fiscal Efficiency and Budgeting Committee. During the visit, the team is carrying out a needs assessment and on-the-spot inspections of various state government-proposed projects, in line with the Commission’s mandate to ensure transparency, efficiency, and strategic resource mobilisation.
In a statement released by Daniel Nomishan, Senior Special Assistant on Corporate Communications, Prof. Ugbah emphasized his commitment to working closely with local stakeholders to revive moribund industries, improve public infrastructure, and position the state for increased federal support.
According to the statement, the ongoing collaboration is aimed at stimulating sustainable economic growth, addressing long-standing development challenges, and ensuring Benue State maximizes its share of federally allocated resources.
Observers say the visit signals a renewed federal commitment to Benue’s development and offers a beacon of hope for improved infrastructure, industrial revival, and broader economic transformation in the state.
