Spanish football icon Jordi Alba has officially announced his retirement from professional football, bringing an illustrious career to a close at the end of the current season in the United States.
The 36-year-old left-back, currently playing for Inter Miami, revealed his decision this Tuesday evening, marking the end of a remarkable journey that spanned over two decades — from his early days at Valencia CF to his golden years with FC Barcelona and his final chapter alongside Lionel Messi in Major League Soccer.
Alba, one of the most consistent full-backs of his generation, spent 11 unforgettable seasons at Barcelona, where he made over 460 appearances.
During his time at Camp Nou, he lifted an impressive collection of trophies, including six La Liga titles, five Copa del Rey crowns, one UEFA Champions League, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
After joining Inter Miami in 2023, Alba reunited with his former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suárez, rekindling one of football’s most iconic partnerships from the 2010s.
In his farewell message, Alba expressed deep gratitude to the fans, teammates, and coaches who shaped his career, stating:
