After a late-night fire destroyed one of the hostels at St. Winifred Girls College, Ihugh, the school has announced a one-week break to reorganize and carry out safety assessments.

The decision followed a stakeholders’ meeting that brought together the Proprietor, Director, PTA executives, and other management members. Students are to begin the break on Thursday, October 30, 2025, and return to school on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

Meanwhile, SSS 3 students whose hostel was not affected by the incident will remain on campus to continue their preparations for external examinations.

The management thanked parents and guardians for their understanding and assured them that the safety and welfare of the students remain a top priority.

“We deeply appreciate your prayers and continued support,” the statement read.
