Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been honoured as the National Team of the Year at the 2025 CAF Awards, marking another milestone for the country’s women’s football.
The team, led by coach Justin Madugu, secured their record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in August 2024 after a dramatic 3–2 victory over host nation Morocco in the final.
Their outstanding run saw them edge out Ghana’s Black Queens and Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses to claim the top award. The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, accepted the trophy on behalf of the squad.
In another category, Flamingos skipper Shakirat Moshood narrowly missed out on the Young Women’s Player of the Year award, which went to Morocco’s Doha El Madani.
