Suspended Benue Government official and Adviser to Governor Hyacinth Alia on Research, Strategy and Documentation, Dr. Donatus Mkor Aondona, has been remanded at the Nasarawa State Prison following his arraignment on multiple charges.

Dr. Mkor, popularly known in political circles as “Oga Slim,” appeared before a High Court in Lafia on Tuesday where he was slammed with five-count charges bordering on sexual scandal, cybercrime, and failure to declare assets.

The presiding judge ruled that the defendant be held in prison custody pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions, which include the provision of two sureties with verified addresses within the jurisdiction and evidence of financial capability.

It was a dramatic scene at the court premises, with heavy security presence and supporters visibly shaken by the outcome. Eyewitnesses described Dr. Mkor as noticeably slimmer and less upbeat compared to his usual charismatic self.

The court adjourned the matter to a later date for full trial, even as legal observers say the case could become a high-profile test for Governor Alia’s administration and its stance on accountability.

Dr. Mkor’s legal team has expressed confidence in meeting the bail terms within the coming days, while declining to speak in detail about the allegations.
