The Chairman of Makurdi Local Government Area (LGA), Mr. Joseph Keffi, has condemned the killing of three persons by suspected cultists in Wurukum, Walomayo Council Ward of the LGA.
The victims were reportedly attacked late on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at about 11:49 p.m. Those killed were identified as Mr. Hundred, who lived opposite the Wurukum Mosque; Martins Dagba, popularly known as Wonder, who resided near Solace Hotels; and Aondoaseer Yisa, also known as Poka, of Usman Street.
Reacting to the incident, the chairman, through his Special Adviser on Security and Political Matters, Mr. Terhide Beetseh Mark, described the killings as senseless and heartbreaking. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and the affected communities.
Mr. Keffi said the local government council was working in collaboration with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen security in the area and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
According to Beetseh, the council remains committed to restoring peace, rebuilding affected communities, and promoting development across Makurdi Local Government Area.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies, stressing that community cooperation is critical in tackling criminal activities.
The Makurdi Local Government Council also called on residents to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives as investigations into the killings continue.
