Tinubu to Address World Leaders at UN General Assembly September 24

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the nomination of Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). The appointment, along with two others to strategic commissioner roles, was announced on Thursday in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Engr. Ramat, 39, is a seasoned electrical engineer and administrator with a PhD in Strategic Management. He brings a strong mix of technical expertise and leadership experience to the role at a time when Nigeria’s electricity sector is under intense scrutiny and pressure for reform.

Also nominated are Mr. Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner for Finance and Management Services. The nominations are subject to confirmation by the Senate.

To ensure continuity and avoid any leadership vacuum, President Tinubu has directed Engr. Ramat to assume the position in an acting capacity pending Senate confirmation.

The appointments signal the administration’s ongoing commitment to revamp regulatory oversight in the power sector and enhance service delivery for electricity consumers nationwide.
