Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has attributed the recent wave of defections by governors, senators, and other top politicians to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ongoing reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which he said are geared toward national transformation.
Governor Sule made the remark on Monday in Lafia during the official reception of Senator Ahmed Wadada, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, who rejoined the APC from the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The governor commended President Tinubu for his bold and progressive policies, noting that they are restoring public confidence in the ruling party and uniting political leaders across the country.
He said, “Every time the progressive governors meet, we are welcoming new members. Just a few days ago in Kebbi, we received Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, and shortly after, another governor also joined. Many leaders are returning because they align with the president’s vision for the nation.”
Sule further congratulated Senator Wadada for his decision to return to the APC, assuring him and his supporters of equal opportunities within the party. “Distinguished Senator Wadada could have remained in his party to challenge us, but he chose to join the progressives. I welcome you with our party’s broom and thank you for believing in the APC,” he said.
In his remarks, the state APC chairman, Aliyu Bello, praised Governor Sule’s leadership and the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, security, and healthcare. He assured all new members of a level playing field ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Your Excellency, you have kept the party united and growing. With your support, we will continue to promote credible and popular candidates who can uphold the ideals of the APC,” Bello added.
Senator Wadada, while addressing the gathering, said he and his supporters were returning to the APC because of their belief in Governor Sule’s leadership and the peaceful atmosphere in Nasarawa State.
“Our return is not just about politics but about trust in the leadership of Governor Sule, who has maintained unity and peace across the state,” Wadada said.
As part of his contribution to strengthening the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 elections, Senator Wadada donated 18 vehicles to APC leaders across senatorial zones and local government areas in the state.
