Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, with support from local security outfits, have eliminated 12 fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in a coordinated offensive across parts of Borno State.
The operation, which was conducted between August 29 and 30, was backed by Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) of the Air Component Command. Troops launched long-range commando raids that successfully cleared terrorist activities in Tamsu Ngamdu, Dalakaleri, and Gaza.
According to military sources, contact was made at Loskori Kura, where a fierce gun battle ensued, leading to the neutralization of 12 insurgents.
Recovered items included eight AK-47 rifles, eight loaded magazines of 7.62mm ammunition, as well as assorted drugs and medical supplies reportedly used by the terrorists.
Military authorities commended the troops for their renewed momentum and urged the Theatre Command to sustain the pressure against insurgents in the region.
