Hon. Terseer Ugbor, the Member Representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has expressed disappointment over the exclusion of Benue lawmakers from a high-level meeting with a visiting United States Congressional Delegation.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Hon. Ugbor revealed that although the American delegation was in Benue State for official engagements, members of the National Assembly from the state were not invited by the Benue State Government to participate.

According to him, such a visit required broad representation, especially from federal lawmakers who play key roles in policy formulation, international partnerships, and constituency development. He stressed that their presence would have strengthened discussions and ensured that Benue’s interests were fully presented.

“It was surprising to learn that a U.S. Congressional Delegation visited Benue, yet none of us from the National Assembly were informed or invited,” Ugbor said. “We represent the people at the federal level, and engaging with international partners is part of our mandate. We should naturally be part of such critical conversations.”

He noted that collaboration between state and federal representatives is essential for attracting investments, strengthening security cooperation, and addressing humanitarian issues affecting the state.

Hon. Ugbor called for improved synergy between the Benue State Government and federal lawmakers to avoid similar incidents in the future, emphasizing that political differences should not stand in the way of the state’s progress.

The Benue State Government has yet to issue a public response to the concerns raised.
