Grammy award-winning artist, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has opened up about his ongoing struggle to find spiritual clarity, saying he still feels unfulfilled despite moving from Christianity to Islam in search of deeper understanding.
Speaking in a recent conversation with streamer Playboymax, the Afrobeats star admitted that his quest for meaning through religion has only led to more questions than answers.
“I was raised a Christian before converting to Islam. I’ve read and studied a lot, but I’m still trying to figure out what’s really true. The more I research, the more confused I become,” Burna Boy confessed.
The singer noted that his spiritual journey is still evolving, as he continues to explore different paths in search of personal truth and enlightenment.
It’s not the first time a Nigerian musician has publicly shared such struggles. Earlier this year, singer 9ice revealed he turned to the Ifa religion after enduring a mysterious illness that left him bedridden for six months. In that viral interview with Nancy Isime, 9ice expressed regret for not embracing the traditional faith sooner.
Both artists’ revelations have sparked fresh conversations about spirituality, identity, and the search for meaning among Nigeria’s entertainers.
