The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has praised President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to transforming Abuja and improving the lives of Nigerians through an ambitious infrastructure renewal drive.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Mohammed Isa Road Extension in the Asokoro District on Tuesday, Wike highlighted that President Tinubu’s administration is delivering on its promises by executing projects that directly impact residents.
According to the minister, no administration in Abuja’s history has matched the current scale of development.
“We have inaugurated a number of projects that are ongoing, and in the coming days, we will inaugurate more. In total, 27 projects have been lined up for commissioning — something that has never happened before in the FCT,” Wike said.
He urged residents to continue supporting President Tinubu’s administration and the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr Christopher Maikalangu, for their dedication to addressing community needs.
Wike further emphasised the importance of electing leaders who genuinely understand the needs of the people.
“A true representative is one who speaks about the needs of the people, not themselves. When such leaders are given the opportunity, those needs will surely be met,” he said, commending Maikalangu for his effective leadership and grassroots engagement.
He also encouraged the people to sustain their support for Maikalangu, describing him as a leader who ensures that promises made to the people are fulfilled.
On her part, the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, lauded President Tinubu for prioritising projects that improve the quality of life for ordinary citizens. She described the newly inaugurated project as “a testament to the President’s vision of building roads that enhance connectivity, accessibility, and economic growth.”
According to Mahmoud, the new road will serve thousands of commuters daily, linking communities, reducing travel time, and boosting socio-economic activities in the area.
Despite being a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike reaffirmed his commitment to Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, stating that the current developments across the FCT clearly reflect the President’s determination to make Abuja a model capital city.
