The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) from ₦699 per litre to ₦799 per litre, marking another adjustment in fuel pricing.

Following the upward review, the refinery announced that petrol sold at MRS filling stations—its major retail partner—will now retail at ₦839 per litre nationwide.

The latest increase is expected to have a ripple effect across the downstream petroleum sector, as marketers may review their prices in response to higher depot costs. It also raises concerns among motorists and businesses already grappling with rising transportation and operating expenses.

While the refinery did not immediately disclose the specific factors behind the price hike, industry observers point to fluctuations in crude oil prices, foreign exchange pressures, and distribution costs as possible contributors.

The Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest single-train refinery, plays a critical role in Nigeria’s fuel supply chain, and changes in its pricing structure often influence pump prices across the country.
