President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh round of high-level appointments across Nigeria’s education sector, reinforcing leadership in key institutions and agencies.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the Presidency, six appointments were confirmed, including new chairpersons and the renewal of tenures for top officials in critical education bodies.
Among the appointments, Prof. Modupe Adeola Adelabu was named Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Examinations Council (NECO), while Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi will continue in his role as Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO.
Similarly, Prof. Babatunde Salako has been appointed as Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Prof. Idris M. Bugaje was also reappointed as the Executive Secretary of NBTE for a second and final five-year term.
In the polytechnic sector, Engr. Dr. Bongfa Binfa has been appointed Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam in Plateau State for a five-year tenure.
Meanwhile, Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi will continue her leadership at the National Library of Nigeria, with her tenure renewed as Director and Chief Executive for a final five-year term.
The Presidency noted that the appointments are part of ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to strengthen governance and improve service delivery in the education sector.
