The Managing Director of D I. Gear, Ambassador Emmanuel Shoon Patrick, has mourned the passing of renowned Nigerian and international film actor, director, and producer, Chief Olu Jacobs, MFR.

In a statement signed by the Managing Director and made available to newsmen, Ambassador Shoon described Olu Jacobs as a towering figure in Nigeria’s film, theatre, and television industry, stressing that he was more than an actor but also a custodian of stories, a symbol of excellence, and a role model to younger generations.

According to him, Chief Olu Jacobs’ remarkable body of work enriched Nigeria’s cultural heritage, helped shape the country’s creative industry, and brought immense pride to Nigeria on the global stage.

Ambassador Shoon noted that Olu Jacobs’ contribution to the arts transcended entertainment, as his professionalism, discipline, talent, and dedication to his craft inspired generations of actors and filmmakers.
He further described the late veteran as an institution whose influence extended beyond the screen, saying his enduring legacy would continue to serve as a source of inspiration to practitioners and aspiring talents within Nigeria’s creative sector and beyond.

“Chief Olu Jacobs was a rare talent whose remarkable career helped place Nigerian theatre and film on the international map. His voice, presence, professionalism, and commitment to excellence will remain indelible in our cultural history.

“He was not only a great actor but also a mentor and an ambassador of Nigerian creativity. His legacy will continue to live through the many lives he touched and the generations of creatives he inspired.”

“His remarkable body of work enriched our culture, shaped our creative industry, and brought immense pride to Nigeria across the world. His passing is a great loss to the nation, the African creative community, and the international entertainment industry,” he said.

On behalf of the Board, Management, and staff of D.I. Gear, Ambassador Shoon celebrated the life, artistry, and enduring legacy of the late thespian, describing his death as the end of an era but the beginning of a lasting legacy.

“As we mourn this great patriot and icon, our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, family, friends, associates, colleagues, and the entire creative community in Nigeria and beyond.

“May God grant the family the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and may the soul of Chief Olu Jacobs, MFR, rest in perfect peace.”
