Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has taken fresh steps to unite key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Alia reportedly invited the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, lawmakers, and other party leaders to a reconciliation meeting aimed at strengthening unity within the party.
Speaking on the need for peace and cooperation among members, the governor said the party has more reasons to stay together than to remain divided.
“What divides us is not strong enough; what unites us is larger, bigger and stronger,” Alia stated.
He also expressed optimism over the party’s chances in the next election cycle, saying the APC would surpass its previous performance in the state.
According to him, what the party achieved during the 2023 elections would be doubled in 2027.
Political observers say the reconciliation move could help resolve lingering tensions among APC leaders in Benue and position the party strongly ahead of future contests.
The development has already generated reactions among supporters, many of whom see the meeting as a positive sign of renewed unity and political stability within the ruling party in the state.
