Federal High Court in Lokoja has nullified the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), removing the party from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s list of recognised political parties.

The decision reversed an earlier court order that directed INEC to register the NDC. The judgment followed a legal challenge filed by the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), which questioned the party’s compliance with registration requirements.

ADA argued that the NDC failed to complete its registration through INEC’s official portal and did not submit key documents, including its manifesto.

In its ruling, the court held that the previous judgment contained legal and procedural flaws and should be set aside.
As a result, INEC is no longer required to recognise the NDC as a registered political party. The ruling means the NDC cannot sponsor or field candidates in any election unless it secures fresh registration.

The party may either appeal the judgment or begin a new registration process in line with INEC’s guidelines.
