A Telecom Executive and former Benue State governorship aspirant, Dr. Dominics Akahan, has condemned what he described as the rising politics of hatred, character assassination, and smear campaigns in Nigeria’s political space.
In a statement issued on April 28, 2026, Akahan urged political actors to focus on ideas, policies, and national development instead of personal attacks and ethnic divisions.
He also called on opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to present clear manifestos and practical solutions capable of convincing voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Akahan further stated that Nigerians deserve issue-based campaigns that address insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, and national unity.
He added that citizens must critically assess all candidates and hold elected leaders accountable for their campaign promises.
Akahan noted that the 2027 elections should be seen as an opportunity to rebuild trust in democracy, stressing that leaders must earn support through competence, vision, and integrity rather than propaganda or divisive rhetoric.
