APC Candidate Gbenga Abiola Calls for Unity, Urges Supporters to Shun Attacks on Rival Aspirants

APC Agege Constituency I candidate Gbenga Abiola has urged supporters to avoid insults and attacks on rival aspirants, calling for unity and cooperation ahead of the election.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Agege Constituency I, Gbenga Abiola, has appealed to his supporters to refrain from insulting, mocking, or attacking fellow aspirants and their supporters following the conclusion of the party’s primary election.

Abiola, a former Vice-Chairman of Agege Local Government, was recently confirmed as the APC candidate for the constituency after emerging victorious in the party’s House of Assembly primary election held on May 20.

His emergence as the party’s flag bearer brought an end to weeks of controversy and internal disagreements that followed the primary, particularly after some party stakeholders had earlier declared rival aspirant, Alhaji Ganiyu Egunjobi, as the winner.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Abiola stressed that the contest for the party’s ticket was over and that members should now focus on strengthening the APC ahead of the general election.

He emphasized that politics should not breed hatred or division among party members who share the same political vision.

“We must remember that we are all members of the same APC family. There is no need for insults, mockery or unnecessary provocation,” Abiola said.

The APC candidate urged supporters across Agege to avoid inflammatory comments, both on social media and during public engagements, noting that genuine leadership is demonstrated through discipline, maturity, and respect for others regardless of political differences.

Abiola acknowledged the contributions and sacrifices made by all aspirants who participated in the primary election, describing them as important stakeholders in the party’s growth and success.

He further called on party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters to unite behind the APC’s collective objectives and work together to secure electoral victory.

According to him, the party’s future success depends largely on unity, cooperation, and commitment among its members.

“The time for contest is over and the time for collaboration has begun. Let us work together for the progress of Agege, our party and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Let us move forward as one family. Together, we will achieve greater victories for our party and our people,” he stated.
