The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released its final list of candidates for the 2027 general elections, confirming several candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to contest various elective positions in Benue State.

Among the names confirmed on the ADC platform are Rt. Hon. Barr. Herman Iorwase Hembe, the party’s candidate for Governor of Benue State, and Barr. John Abba, who will serve as his running mate.

The confirmation further strengthens the ADC’s preparations for the 2027 governorship election as the party continues to position itself as an alternative political platform for Benue voters.

Hembe/Abba Ticket Confirmed

Hembe, a former member of the House of Representatives and prominent political figure from Benue State, will lead the ADC’s governorship campaign in the state.

He will be contesting alongside Barr. John Abba as the ADC’s deputy governorship candidate.

The Hembe/Abba ticket has continued to attract attention within Benue’s political space, with the campaign focusing on issues including security, agriculture, education, infrastructure, healthcare, job creation and economic development.

The ADC campaign has repeatedly emphasized the need for a government that prioritizes the safety and welfare of citizens and creates opportunities for young people and families across the state.

AG-BEN Confirmed for Jechira Federal Constituency

Also confirmed on the INEC final list is Dr. Aondoaseer Gbe Benjamin Orduen, popularly known as AG-BEN, as the ADC candidate for the Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency, popularly known as the Jechira Federal Constituency, in the House of Representatives election.

AG-BEN has been building his campaign around effective representation, youth inclusion, development and stronger legislative advocacy for the people of Vandeikya and Konshisha.

His emergence adds another major name to the ADC’s growing team of candidates seeking elective positions across Benue State.

For supporters of the movement, the confirmation is being viewed as an important step toward consolidating the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 elections.

Tarhule Confirmed for Benue State House of Assembly

The INEC final list also confirms Hon. Amb. Joshua Teryila Tarhule as the ADC candidate for the Konshisha I State Constituency seat in the Benue State House of Assembly.

Tarhule, who has been engaging with communities and stakeholders in the constituency, has positioned his campaign around responsible representation, youth and women inclusion, community development and listening to the concerns of constituents.

His supporters describe the candidacy as an opportunity for the people of Konshisha I to elect a representative who will remain accessible and accountable to the people.

Other ADC Candidates Confirmed

Beyond the governorship, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly contests, several other ADC candidates have also been confirmed to contest different positions across Benue State.

The publication of the final list gives the candidates and their supporters a clearer platform to intensify their campaigns and mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections.

With the major candidates now confirmed, attention is expected to shift toward grassroots mobilization, voter engagement, policy communication and preparation for the general election.

ADC Looks Ahead to 2027

The confirmation of the candidates comes at a critical period in Benue’s political calendar.

With insecurity, unemployment, agricultural challenges, infrastructure deficits and economic hardship remaining major concerns among citizens, political parties and candidates are expected to present practical solutions to the challenges facing the state.

For the ADC, the 2027 election presents an opportunity to offer voters an alternative political direction.

The Hembe/Abba campaign has continued to promote the message of “Rescue, Restore and Rebuild Benue,” while candidates such as AG-BEN and Tarhule are seeking to take the same message of change and effective representation to their respective constituencies.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, the political atmosphere in Benue is expected to become increasingly competitive, with candidates and parties stepping up their grassroots activities across the state’s 23 local government areas.

For ADC supporters, the confirmation of Hembe, Abba, AG-BEN, Tarhule and other candidates marks the beginning of another phase of the journey toward the 2027 elections.
