Okeke Congratulates Enugu Local Government Chairmen And Councillors Elect

By Raphael Atuu

Barrister Henry Okeke has congratulated the Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the newly elected local government chairmen and councillors following the party’s reported victory across the seventeen local governments in Enugu state in the recent local government elections.

Okeke, in a statement made available to newsmen, described the outcome of the election as a significant development, saying it demonstrated what he described as the growing confidence of the people of Enugu State in the administration of Governor Peter Mbah.

According to him, the electoral outcome was an indication that the people of the state had continued to assess the performance of the present administration through its programmes and policies.

He said the victory should also serve as a call to the newly elected council chairmen and councillors to remain committed to the welfare and development of their respective local government areas.

Okeke, who is a board member of Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwollo, commended the people of Enugu State for participating in the electoral process and exercising their civic responsibility.

He urged the local council officials to justify the confidence reposed in them by the electorate by prioritising grassroots development, effective service delivery, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, infrastructure and other initiatives capable of improving the living conditions of residents.

The APC chieftain also expressed optimism that cooperation between the state government and the local government councils would create greater opportunities for development at the grassroots.

He said the local government system remained critical to bringing government closer to the people, urging the incoming council leadership to ensure that the benefits of government programmes were extended to communities across the state.

Okeke further assured the people of Enugu State that, with sustained commitment to development, the state could achieve greater progress in the coming years.

He congratulated Governor Mbah, the APC, the chairmen and councillors elect and the people of Enugu State on the reported electoral victory, while calling on all stakeholders to work together for peace, unity and continued development.

“On behalf of my family, New Enugu Group and Associates, I say congratulations to my Governor, the APC, the chairmen and councillors elect and all Ndi Enugu for the victory,” Okeke stated.
He urged the newly elected council officials to see their victory as an opportunity to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to the development agenda of Enugu State.
