The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially locked its list of candidates for the 2027 general elections, ruling out any review of its recently concluded internal elections.
The decision comes despite furious protests and heavy petitioning by dozens of disgruntled aspirants across the country, including 54 serving federal lawmakers who completely lost their re-election tickets.
A principal party official broke silence on Friday, confirming that the National Working Committee has completed compilation of the results and is simply waiting for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to release its nomination portal access codes on June 26.
We are not reviewing the results of the primaries. The timeline for primaries and appeals has already elapsed. Everything has been concluded,” the official revealed, labeling the majority of the petitions as completely frivolous.
The party further dismissed high-profile petitions filed against former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and House Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda.
Senator Ned Nwoko had challenged Okowa’s victory on the grounds that he failed to formally resign from the PDP. Similarly, Rivers State aspirants contested Chinda’s emergence.
The APC defended both candidates, clarifying that party registration on the official register is the ultimate proof of membership and party registration remains strictly an internal affair.
Meanwhile, an NWC member explicitly denied rumors that President Bola Tinubu has stepped in to save aggrieved politicians, particularly in Lagos State, noting that the results are final and “nothing will be changed.”
However, worried aspirants have warned that the party’s refusal to address the primary crisis could trigger massive internal sabotage on election day, as angry members may stay home or covertly work for the opposition.
